Dr. Blanchette
The Foundation was very saddened to hear of the recent passing of Dr. Victor Blanchette. The family met with Dr. Blanchette in August 1999 to learn of Emmy's leukemia diagnosis. He was very gentle and empathetic during that emotional meeting. Dr. Blanchette was Emmy's oncologist from that day and followed her progress and treatments until her care was transferred to Princess Margaret as an adult.
We will never forget Dr. Blanchette’s compassion and kindness. When Emmy passed in September 2012, Dr. Blanchette made a special point of coming to Princess Margaret to express his condolences directly to the family. It was a very heartfelt moment. He was a special person and doctor, and we know he will be missed.
