Look Good Feel Better (LGFB)
Look Good Feel Better is like a makeover for the spirit. Free two-hour workshops provide a safe and supportive environment where women with cancer come together to learn ways to manage the effects that cancer and its treatment can have on their appearance. Look Good Feel Better was created from the belief that if a woman with cancer can be helped to look good, chances are she'll feel better, her spirits will be lifted and she will be able to face her cancer with more confidence. Workshops are lead by industry-trained cosmetic advisors who teach simple cosmetic techniques, nail and skin care tips, hair alternatives and cosmetic hygiene, to help them look a little more like themselves again. Beyond beauty, it’s the support from other women, the sharing of empowering information, support of compassionate volunteers and laughter that helps workshop participants gain confidence and take control. Look Good Feel Better workshops are offered at 119 hospitals and cancer care facilities across Canada, and have served more than 130,000 women since 1992.
In 2012, Emily Duff was awarded the Facing Cancer Together Award of Honour in recognition of her commitment to empowering women with cancer by sharing her unwavering spirit and determination with other young women facing cancer as Look Good Feel Better’s first teen testimonial.
